The Orlov Trotter is a renowned Russian horse breed that was developed in the late 18th century by Count Alexei Orlov. The breed was created by crossbreeding Arabian stallions with local Russian mares, as well as some European breeds, to produce a horse with exceptional trotting abilities, stamina, and elegance.
Count Orlov established a stud farm at his estate near Moscow, where he meticulously selected and bred horses to achieve the desired traits. The Orlov Trotter quickly gained fame for its speed and endurance, making it ideal for harness racing and as a carriage horse.
